Avoid toe problems and toe pain by choosing shoes that fit. The health of your toenails is not only important to the health of your feet, but also to your overall well-being.  Therefore it is very beneficial that you take good care of your toenails.

Sometimes toenail ailments are unavoidable, while others that actually be caused by something you have done, such as improperly cutting your nails or not sufficiently drying your feet after your shower.

You may not be aware of this, but one huge threat to the health of your toenails is wearing ill-fitting shoes.  If your shoes are too loose, your toenails can be bruised from all the moving the shoe does when you walk. 

Or, if your shoes are too tight, they can cause your toes to crowd, therefore making your toenails break or crack, or even causing bacteria to be easily distributed.

This is why wearing shoes that fit properly is such an important aspect to your toenails’ health. 

Many people wear shoes that don’t fit properly only because they don’t know the correct way to buy the right size shoes.  If you follow these steps, you can ensure that your shoes fit well, and that your toenails won’t be at risk.

Your Toenails Need Shoes That Fit
One of the biggest mistakes that people make when buying shoes is assuming that they wear the same size regardless of the shoe type or brand. 

However, the style and brand you choose may have a different way of sizing than the styles and brands that you are used to.  So, it is very important that you try the shoe on and make your decision based on how well it fits, not what size it is.

As you grow, your feet can change, which is why you should always have your foot measure prior to buying shoes. 

Also, make sure to have both of your feet measured.  It is common for people to have different sized feet.  If you find that this is true for you, then the size you wear will be based on your larger foot.

The time of day you shop for shoes is important.  Your feet area always slightly smaller in the morning, but will grow a little as you move use them throughout the day.  So, it is best that you try on shoes later in the day when your feet are at their largest.

 

Always stand and walk around when trying on shoes to ensure that your toes have enough space from the front and that the shoe feels right.  If they fit tightly, don’t buy them.  It is never a good idea to expect them to stretch as you wear them.  Even if they do, by then the damage to your toenails may already have been done.

Cleaning and properly caring for your feet is very important for the health of your toenails.  But, if you wear shoes that fit properly, you’ll have one less thing to worry about.
