It is common for the agent to detract their fee once the model has begun work, they do not require an upfront payment.

  • First, you should always approach high profile modeling agencies and gauge their response. If they are interested in you, your problems are solved and you won't need to worry about local modeling agencies or model management companies. 
  • However, if they show disinterest, you might want to consider asking them several questions that will help you identify what you can change to make yourself more marketable.
  • When selecting modeling agencies, you might find that your first approach is to call them on the telephone and ask several questions. You will need to find out if the agency is actively seeking new models. 
  • You'll also need to know what type of characteristics and features they are looking for in models and if they have any standard procedures for accepting new models.

By keeping these factors in mind, you can ensure that you selecting modeling agencies that are best for your career.
