Rooney Maras Style

You may have seen Rooney Maras style in the character Lisbeth Salander in the updates and trailers of the upcoming movie, "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,"

Rooney Mara As Lisbeth Salander

From Salander Grunge to Sophisticated Chic: The Real Rooney Mara

This means you are quite aware of the character's shocking fashion and have probably decided for yourself whether you love it or hate it. What you may not be aware of though is just how incredibly different this character is from the real Rooney Mara.

Will the Real Rooney Mara Please Stand Up?

Let’s compare, shall we?  You’ll be amazed at how one beautiful actress can be pulling off an edgy grunge look that makes you flinch one minute, and suddenly be a well put together classy woman who looks as though she’s headed to a tea party hosted by the Queen of England.

Rooney Maras style could really be summed up in three words: simple, classy, elegant. How can she possibly be all three, you ask? We'd like to know the same thing. What we also don't know is which is more eye-catching when you first look at the real Rooney; her perfectly tousled brunette locks, or her perfect model-esque legs.

A No Makeup Look

Perhaps the most intriguing thing about Rooney Mara's style is her nearly complete lack of makeup. Rooney looks as though she may dust some bronzer over her face, throw on a few swipes of mascara, and some lipstick, and that's about it. She's absolutely beautiful in a very natural way that we (sadly) don't see often enough anymore.

Rooney vs. Lisbeth

If you had never heard of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," or Rooney Mara, and you had side by side pictures of Rooney and her character, Lisbeth Salander, you would never know it was the same girl.

Lisbeth is a very tortured and tough girl. You can tell she's had it rough, and everything from her choppy haircut to her piercings to her ensemble, screams, "Leave me alone!" At first glance, she's the type of girl that elderly people fear, other girls roll their eyes at, and parents hope their children never become.

Once you get to know the character though, you realize that there is actually much more to Lisbeth than meets the eye. Her scary grunge look suddenly becomes sexy in a somewhat off sort of way. The real Rooney, however, is just the opposite. You look at her and think she must have a picture-perfect life.

Elderly people smile at her, other girls wish they were her, and moms hope their children turn out just like her.

All Her Own

Rooney Mara's style in fashion is very unique. She takes something very simple, adds a few touches of her own and it becomes elegant. For example, for her ensemble at the Las Angeles "Dare," movie premier; she wore a red printed dress and then added very nontraditional neutral heels.

Somehow Rooney manages to be perfectly polished and pretty while keeping her looks very toned down and neutral. She also wore a neutral dress for the premier of Nightmare on Elm Street last year. Rooney Mara looks incredible as Lisbeth Salander, but even more as just as herself.

The actress looks very young yet sophisticated and sexy while looking like she put absolutely no effort into it. Rooney Mara's style is unique and effortlessly beautiful – that's why we love her!
