Premature Menopause

spacer

Menopause is a natural experience for women. Generally, women experience the issue of menopause around the age of fifty. There are a number of women who experience menopause as early as forty.

Genetic predisposition, certain procedures of a medical basis, and even certain types of illnesses can result in menopause in as young as forty.

However, there is a type of menopause that may occur prior to forty. There are times that this is induced naturally, and times that it just happens with no previous induction procedures. This type of menopause is referred to as premature menopause.

There are a number of issues that can result in premature menopause. The most obvious cause of early menopause is when a female has her ovaries removed for one reason or another.

This will always induce menopause. Many families have a gene that results in premature menopause. There have been documented cases in which an individual received damage to the ovaries as a result of various types of medical treatments, such as those that are prescribed for cancer.

The following will outline other issues that may result in early menopause.

Causes Of Premature Menopause

Ovarian failure that is considered premature may be a result of many different conditions. Irregularities in the chromosomes have been reported as having played a part in many cases of premature menopause.

These women either have too few X chromosomes, or too many X chromosomes. As a result, a failure occurs in the ovaries. This, in turn, leads to the onset of premature menopause.

There are many females that suffer from diseases that are considered to be autoimmune. These are likely to develop the onset of premature menopause.

This is common because in a disease like this, the natural antibodies in the reproductive system will begin an attack on healthy components.

There are many different types of surgeries that can lead to the development of early menopause. The main type of surgery that can result in early menopause includes those which involve removing sections of the reproductive system, such as one of the ovaries, or even a fallopian tube.

Naturally, a total hysterectomy can also be a cause. When these types of situations occur, the hormones in the body will experience a change in way that they function and produce.

The decrease in hormone productivity will occur quickly and drastically. This can prove to be extremely uncomfortable.

Various types of treatments that are used to treat cancer have been known to induce early menopause in many women.

This medication is used to destroy cancer that is lurking in the body of the female; unfortunately, it can also cause severe damage to the reproductive system of the female.

Tamoxifen is a product that is used for breast cancer treatments. This, radiation, chemotherapy – all of them can result in the onset of premature menopause in women on a global scale.

The ultimate causes of early menopause do not stop here. There are a number of other situations that may cause a female to go into menopause too early.
These include:

Exposure of viral infections before birth
• Thyroid Disease
• Diseases of the brain, especially if these complications occur in the hypothalamus or the pituitary
• Excessive cysts on the ovaries
• Certain drug treatment therapies

If you feel as if you may be a candidate for premature, or early, menopause, it is important to discuss your concerns with a medical professional. They will be able to determine if this is a condition that may be eminent in your life.
