Poor blood circulation can have a big impact on your legs and feet. People who have this problem find that the injuries, cuts, and sores that they get on their feet take longer to heal.
Some even find that they have to have special care to help them heal completely. This happens because the blood helps to carry nutrients and oxygen to the tissues, and these are needed to help the body heal itself.
When you have poor circulation to your feet, it takes a great deal longer for healing to occur, since the nutrients and oxygen do not get to the feet as they should. In some severe cases, poor foot circulation can lead to gangrene as well.
Some people may end up having to have their foot or leg amputated due to gangrene, Deep Vein Thrombosis, which is a blood clot, can occur as well. In some cases these problems can be so bad that they lead to death.
If a blood clot breaks loose, it can travel throughout the body and arrive at the heart causing a heart attack, or it can go to the brain causing a stroke or death.
Many people who deal with poor foot circulation in their feet have a hard time sleeping at night. At times sever cramps or aching feet may wake them up and it can be difficult to get the sleep and rest that is needed, which makes the problem even worse.
You may also find that your feet fall asleep after sitting for awhile, and in some cases you may get up to find your balance off, since you have lost some of the strength in your feet and legs
If you suffer from poor blood circulation, there are a few things you can do to help.
