Natural skin care is the most simplistic form of skin care possible; caring for your skin without the use of any form of chemical products.
It is a way of looking after your skin and, in fact, your body in general, taking steps to promote good health and healthy skin.
The most vital part of caring for your skin is water. Did you realize that in order to maintain optimum health, it is necessary to drink two liters of water a day (that's about seven or eight glasses.) Drinking lots of water helps flush the toxins that build up within your body, in a perfectly normal way. Water also helps keep your internal organs healthy and maintains clear healthy skin.
A further very basic way for natural care of your skin is personal hygiene. Daily bathing, clean bedding and clothing are all ways to ward off germs and help maintain good health. A clean, healthy skin is maintained, and the result is less skin problems.
Exercise is essential for mind and body as well as your skin. It gets your blood flowing and your heart pumping, and this too will help you secrete toxins from your body and will help rid you of tension. Your skin will also benefit. It doesn't have to be strenuous exercise; you can take a brisk walk a day to help promote good health.
Take a look at the different food groups and what you should be eating daily from each group, then build up a healthy eating plan. You should be eating at least five portions of fruit and vegetables a day and the rest of your food should be varied with low levels of fat and carbohydrates.
The fruit and vegetables are the foods that promote good health the most and getting in your five a day will help you improve your complexion and are an important part of natural skin care.
Sleep is an important factor in promoting good health. If you get a good night's sleep you will wake up feeling relaxed and good about life in general. It also helps towards keeping skin healthy.
A good night's sleep will help combat tension which is good for neither mind nor body. Another way of dealing with tension is to relax in a warm bath, maybe have some candles burning and play soothing music to totally relax your mind. Playing sports and being active can also help rid you of tension as does yoga.
There are many natural things that you can use to look after your skin apart from protecting yourself from the sun by sitting in the shade, wearing thin, long sleeved clothes etc. If you do slip up and get sun burnt, you can use natural yoghurt to take the burn out of it. If you are in a Mediterranean country where Aloe Vera plants grow in the wild, break off a spike and split it open, then rub the gel onto the affected areas.
For hay fever sufferers, place slices of cool cucumber over the eyes and lie back and relax. This soothes itchy eyes and also reduces the swelling. There are many more natural remedies available and there are plenty of information sources where you can get additional ideas on how to keep your skin healthy in a natural way.
