Braids are a beautiful styling option for women with long hair. Whether you’re attending a casual event or a formal affair, a braided hairstyle will make your long hair look stunning.
The fishtail braid is beautiful and sophisticated. This braid for long hair can be created on a ponytail or by starting at the front of the hairline as a full braid.
Begin by pulling all of your hair back into a ponytail. Divide the ponytail into two equal sections of hair.
Take about a 1-inch section of hair from underneath the left section of hair and cross it over the right section of hair.
While holding the ponytail securely with your left thumb let the right side of your hand remain free and then take another 1 inch section small section from underneath the right side.
Cross the section from underneath the right over to the left side of your hair. While holding the right side securely with your right thumb. Continue these steps until you reach the end of the ponytail and then secure the remaining tail hair with an elastic band.
The French braid for long hair is beautiful, versatile and very easy to create and allows you to achieve a wide variety of looks. You could for example opt to tuck the ends of the braid under the braid, or even wrap the remaining tail into a soft bun.
Begin with a 3-inch-long by 1-inch-wide section of your hair just above your forehead or behind your bangs. Divide the section into three even pieces.
Wrap your left thumb around the left section, with your palm facing front, fingers sticking straight up. Do the same thing with your right hand while letting the middle section lay against your head.
Make a fist around the left section of hair, rotating your hand so that your fingers rest on your head. Bring the section of hair in your right hand across the middle section and hook it with your left index finger.
Lead with your right thumb and pull about a 1-inch section of hair straight across the head, starting at the hairline and going toward the middle section. Collect the middle section and pull all of the hair tight.
Make a fist with your right hand, fingers facing your scalp. Reach the right index finger over the middle section and hook the section of hair that's in your left fist. Pull it out carefully, keeping a firm grip on the hair sections in your right hand.
Let the section in your left-hand dangle. Lead with your left thumb and pull about a 1-inch section of hair straight across the head, collect the middle section, pulling all of the hair tight. Rotate your fist so that your fingers face your scalp.
Extend your left index finger to hook the section of hair that's in your right fist. Continue on until your French Braid is finished.
