Although nobody can seem to determine what causes this condition, there are theories that point to it being a disorder of genetics that were inherited or that it comes about from an unplanned mutation of genes.
Hypertrichosis Lanuginosa has often been found in people who at a later point were diagnosed with cancer. Hypertrichosis that is related to cancer typically is found as hair on the face, nose and eyelids and is rather fine.
Researches tend to think that some metabolic disorders brought about by drugs like oral phenytoin and ciclosporin can result in Hypertrichosis.
