Keeping Your Skin Healthy and Safe from Damage
Damage to your skin is unavoidable. Certain amounts of damage do very little to your skin, and others can cause major problems, not only for your skin, but for your health in general.
Keeping your skin as healthy as possible is a very important part of living a healthy life. There are many kinds of damage you experience to your skin and many ways you can help to fight this damage.
Sun Damage and How to Fight It
Get healthier skin by fightting sun damage. Sun damage is something that you experience every day of your life. The sun is unavoidable. But there are some things you can do to reduce the amount of damage your skin gets from exposure to the sun. Sunscreen is the easiest and most obvious choice of protection. You should always wear sunscreen when you are out in the sun. You can also wear a hat or just stay in the shade when possible.
Free Radicals and Chemicals
Free radicals are unstable molecules. They can come from anywhere – pollution, chemicals, etc. They can not only damage your skin, but can damage your overall health. Preventing free radical damage is tough, but overall, a healthy lifestyle will help you get healthy skin
Practicing good hygiene is the most obvious of these. Shower daily and remember to exfoliate. Exfoliation is removing dead skin cells from its surface, revealing the fresh, new skin underneath. Using a scrub is a great way to do this. This is a major factor in preventing premature aging.
Antioxidants are also a big helper. Natural skin care products often contain these. Synthetic products will tend to contain more free radicals and dangerous chemicals. Soaps and scents should also be made of natural ingredients for the same reason.
Dehydration and How to Avoid It
Dehydration is a problem, as much for your skin as your body in general. Your body needs water to stay healthy. Eight glasses of water is the common amount given to remain healthy.
Most people don't really drink this much water. Eight is just a general number, though. A good trick is to take your weight, divide the number by eight, and drink that many glasses of water a day. It's hard to do, but very important.
Moisturizing is also a good way to keep your skin hydrated. Use an all-natural moisturizer to supplement the amount of water you drink and keep your skin healthy.
A regular moisturizer, though no substitute for enough water, is a great idea. Your daily life is tough on your skin. This is unavoidable. Every day will do some amount of damage to your skin that will cause aging. But there are things you can to do combat this. Keeping your skin healthy against sun damage, free radicals, and dehydration are is very important.
There are countless things you can do to help each of these, to get healthy skin and keep your skin looking and feeling young. This is important, because, after all, your skin is important. It is pretty much there for your entire life.
