Melissa's Story
I have a disorder called Trichotillomania. This causes me to subcounciously pull my hair out. The results are bald patches all over my head. This is why I decided to shave my head, instead of having patchy uneven hair, I'd rather just have a shaved head. I can't pull it if it's that short.
With this disorder, I feel very anxious about going out in public when my hair is not shaved and patchy. I don't like what I assume people assume or the stares I get. Now, when my head is shaved, it's a completely different story.
I feel confident, sexy, and those pity stares suddenly turn into envy stares. So many people have come up to me just to say how much they'd love to have courage to do it, or that it suits me very well. Some people are still unsure of what to think about me, but a friendly smile usually puts them at ease. I love the attention I get from having a shaved head.
Being a sexy bald woman has made me realize that beauty is not what's seen on the outside, true beauty shines from way deep inside you. Be confident, love yourself and people will notice.
To all the women thinking about shaving their head for whatever reason; Stop worrying about society and it's idea of beauty, it's all superficial, and you'll live a much happier life outside the 'norms of society'.
