Caveman Costumes So Easy A Caveman Could Do It
Doesn’t Geico auto insurance have the best commercials? Maybe you’ve noticed that the Geico cavemen have been showing up all over the television and YouTube these days, and there have even been plans of an upcoming movie.
The tagline, "So easy a caveman can do it” seems to have launched a thousand ships. With the undoubtedly forthcoming cave mania, what better time to get in touch with your primitive side by borrowing a little style from those lovable, if a bit sensitive, cave dudes.
Animal print and fur trim with unfinished seams and ragged edges shouts caveman in costume. Be bold in little more than a loincloth, or wear a longer tunic with one sleeve across the shoulder.
Some outfits are full fur, top and bottom with a long belt and pouches tied around the waist. Or wear a long leather sash.
Once your caveman couture is in place, you’ll need some super sweet prehistoric accessories to complete the look.
Bare feet are, naturally, the authentic choice for jungle gear, but those who opt for shoes can choose a comfy pair of flip-flops, or moccasin or UGG-style boots.
There are some very cool, clip-on nose rings (if you aren’t brave enough to have a real one!) resembling the old bone-in-the-nose look.
Wear another necklace made of plastic bones around your neck or studded bracelet, or faux fur wrist cuffs, and you’ll have to carry around a big club for attracting (read: clubbing) cute cave girls!
If you’re sporting a normal, nine-to-five hairdo, there are lots of fun and frazzled cave man wigs available for purchase. Some even include some wacky, frizzed out facial hair! If you don’t feel like sporting a fake ‘do, you can rat up your own hair (or ask a lady friend to show you how) with a comb or your fingers, and spray it with a flexible hold spray.
And let your own facial hair grow wild for a gruff, scruffy look. There are even reasonably priced caveman teeth you can pop in for the evening to finish the look, just mold them over your own teeth and they are even quite comfortable.
If you’re costuming as a couple this fine Halloween, there are lots of adorable cave girl outfits for the ladies in your life.
Another fun idea is to dress as the first family of prehistory, the Flintstones! There are some fantastic licensed costumes for Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty – even Bam-Bam and Pebbles, as kids or adults! If you’ve got kiddies you’re taking trick or treating, you could dress up the whole gang.
Or if you’re double dating with another couple, go as both of the favorite Yabba Dabba Doo couples!
