As long as you know your true height and weight, you can quickly and easily calculate your own Body Mass Index. In order to find your body mass index, multiply your weight in pounds by 700. Then, take that answer and divide it by your height in inches squared.
An example is as follows. A person weighing 176 pounds who is 63 inches tall will have a Body Mass Index of 31.1. Anyone with a Body Mass Index that falls between 25.1 and 29.9 is thought to be overweight. And, anyone with a Body Mass Index that calculates to be 30 or above is thought to be obese. Therefore, in the above example, the person would be considered obese.
The higher the Body Mass Index total ends up being when calculated, the higher the risk that that person can one day develop a serious disease or one or more of many other serious ailments.
