Mentioning the word metrosexual just a few years ago would have definitely caused some confusion and possibly some angered people.  

Let’s just say it would have raised a few eyebrows. However, today the word metrosexual is a well-known word that is known nearly worldwide.

It has become somewhat of a phenomenon, so let’s find out all about what this is.

When the term metrosexual was first used it was used to describe a heterosexual man who acted or behaved like he was homosexual or bisexual.

This was a widespread way to describe a man, and it was not used very often. However, today it is used much more often with a more refined meaning.

Today it is not just a word used to describe a man, it is more than that. Metrosexual is now a lifestyle that is celebrated by many men and women alike.

The word is also not used to simply describe a man that behaves homosexual or bisexual.

A metrosexual man is simply a man who embraces and accepts his feminine side and takes care in his appearance.

Your boyfriend or husband might take care in his appearance and care about the way he looks, but that does not necessarily mean that he is metrosexual.

There is actually a difference. A man who cares about his appearance is just that. But a man who goes over the top about his appearance, his clothing, and his material possessions is definitely a metrosexual.

It even goes into the man’s lifestyle as far as fitness, eating well and other lifestyle choices that might be involved.

A lot of metrosexuals will spend more money on quality clothing for their wardrobe, getting their hair cut and colored on a regular basis, getting manicures and pedicures on a regular basis, and possibly even some light tanning in tanning salons.

Most metrosexuals will try to use a bronzer that will not harm their skin, though.

The term metrosexual still needs to be used with care, as some men do not like to be labeled with that word.

Sure, a man might get manicures, or pedicures, or regular haircuts, or spend more time in the mirror than usual, or even have a better wardrobe than their girlfriends.

This does not necessarily mean that he is a metrosexual, because he only does one or two of these things.

Do you spend a lot of time finding the best clothing and accessories for your wardrobe?
Are your nails always cleanly manicured and taken care of?
Do you always have and use the best skin care and hair care products?
Do you make sure that you only dine at the finest restaurants and shop at the best stores?
Do you have a hairstylist that knows you by name, or even the whole salon knows you be name?

If all or most of the above questions had you nodding yes you just may be a true metrosexual.
