Mens Hair Coloring

For as far back as time goes, women have been accentuating and altering their appearances. Ladies have earned the title of the “fairer sex,” and we have been a-okay with being the pretty ones.
In more recent times though, men have been gaining momentum in the beauty rat race with their own guy-centric skin care, five hundred dollar designer jeans, and mani-pedi regimes.
In the midst of all this “metrosexuality,” the fellas have also begun experimenting with mens hair coloring, and not just the purple and green Mohawks of seventies punk. From high school students to news anchors, guys from every walk of life have started to pay attention to their own hair, and are doing what it takes to keep their look fresh and young.
If you’re a man who is thinking about taking the dye plunge with some mens hair coloring, there are a couple of ways to go.
Choices For Mens Hair Coloring
Highlights are strategically placed lightened strands that give hair a little bit of a lift. Lowlights are similar, but a shade or two darker than natural color.
All-over color is a larger commitment in mens hair coloring and will need more frequent touch-ups. Gray coverage can be any one or a combination of any of the above.
Even if you’re a bit shy about becoming one of the few, the proud, the men who dye their hair, you may want to also seek the advice of your wife or girlfriend. She’s the one who will have to look at you, and will probably have a better handle on what colors and styles will and will not work with your skin coloring.
Perhaps the safest and best bet is to put yourself in the hands of a professional. Ask around for referrals from your wife, girlfriend, or female pals.
Once you’ve found the right salon, dig through magazines or the Internet and find photos of hairstyles you like and would want to try, and bring them to your stylist.
Don’t be afraid to ask for what you want, but do take into consideration your hairstylist’s professional input on mens hair coloring
If you can’t picture yourself sitting under a dryer in a beauty salon, there are a number of do-it-yourself options for you to try at home. Men’s magazine Maxim even has their own line of hair dye, with colors like Black Jack and Red Rum.
Their are highlighting and frosting kits that are the closest thing to foolproof you can get in a box (frosted tips are highlights just at the tips of hair. Think Mark McGrath and Ryan Seacrest).
There is also a line of at-home men’s hair coloring for gray coverage.
Try to enlist your wife or girlfriend, if home color is what you choose. She’ll be able to see what’s going on all over your head, and has probably had at least a little experience with a bathroom dye-job.

Don’t be afraid to try something new, but also don’t be afraid to embrace the hair you’ve got. Sometimes there is nothing more attractive than a little salt and pepper at the temples, and you wouldn’t want to disturb that natural distinction.
Men, try new hairstyles, haircuts, and hair color in privacy.
