Many Women Apply Too Much
Perfume And Fragrance

When you do this, you take your scent from a gentle proclamation of who you are and can turn it into a negative bold statement of your presence. You want your fragrance to compliment who you are, not overpower you.

There are a few things you can do to prevent your fragrance from being overwhelming. First of all, do not rely on your nose. It is actually not all that easy to determine how your scent smells to other people.

If you can smell your fragrance strongly, other people can smell it even more so; this tells you that you are probably wearing too much. You only want to be able to faintly smell your own fragrance. Never spray on your fragrance to the back of your ears.

When applied to behind your ears, your fragrance will likely smell too strong. All that you need is a small dash of fragrance on each wrist and on either side of your neck. For a subtle yet effective addition of fragrance, spray your scent into the air and walk through it one time.

There may be times when you actually do not even need perfume. At these times, opt for a different way to add some fragrance to your day. You could try applying lotion, using a scented soap or powder instead of spraying on a perfume.

These products will allow you to have a gentle scent without your fragrance being too bold. If you want to wear a fragrance, but feel the need for your scent to be subtle you could try using cologne or perhaps an eau de toilette. They typically offer a more gentle fragrance than a perfume.

Colognes

Cologne has a slightly less intoxicating scent than a perfume. However, cologne can be used in exactly the same manner as you would use perfume.

You still need to be careful though as cologne can be overused as well. When used properly and dabbed in all the right places, cologne is just as effective as a perfume for all day use.

Eau de Toilette

Eau de Toilette is often preferred by many individuals, as it is a very diluted form of fragrance. This allows the person wearing it to apply it freely and as often as they like without as great of a chance of smelling too strong.

Eau de toilette is typically sprayed on, rather than being dabbed on as are many perfumes and colognes, this is found to be very handy for a lot of women.

Eau de Toilette also has the added distinction of coming in a larger size for less money than most perfumes and colognes. A large number of people are very scent sensitive. For this reason, you should always be careful about how much fragrance you apply before attending an event where there will be a large number of individuals.

In fact, there are some individuals who even have harsh physical reactions to fragrances that are very overwhelming, and these reactions can actually be dangerous to their health.

Therefore, if you know you are going to be in a situation where a lot of people are, you would be well advised to go easy on your fragrance. These are cases where less is always more for how to know the amount of perfume to apply and wear.
